Hello World

Welcome

This is my space on the internet for more long-winded ramblings, I guess.
I've been programming for about 12 years, but somehow never had the interest to create maintain my own website.

This is another attempt, with different tools.

Tbh, I've tried this a few times over the years, I set up GitHub Pages once but using Jekyll was a pain on Windows back then and needed WSL, etc.
Lots of excuses and I didn't really care that much or think that what I write really matters.
Maybe it doesn't, or maybe it does, who knows. That doesn't need to stop me from writing though.

Humans have been writing for thousands of years. Who knows where this will end up.

What else?

The internet has been a shitshow for quite a while now, i.e. n big websites filled with screenshots of the other (n-1), plastered with tracking ads, a giant machinery recommending tons of harmful and manipulative crap and the latest fad being a plausible-sounding bullshit generator (LLMs for posterity, should they fizzle out like the NFT grift of 2022 or so).

I ain't having none of that here. It's just me writing about things I do and care enough to write about.

Not quite sure yet if this will be just code-related or include other topics as well.
When I started out with programming I used to be excited about the tech industry; smartphones were hype and I was learning to make Windows Phone 7 apps (out of equal amounts of curiosity and escapism).
These days I'm mostly disillusioned, angry and sad about tech. However, I understand this is more about the world we live in, with all the oppression, violence, rent-seeking and concentration of power that big tech companies are getting ever more into.

We'll see where this goes.
There is a bunch of things I care about, including music (playing guitar/bass guitar/drums), cats and dealing with traumatic stress/chronic pain.
